Jason Horrell

Jason is the Senior Attorney for the Family Law practice at NLSP, where he works on the Family Preservation Project. In this role, he works to stabilize families in danger of having a child removed from the home by assisting them with problems such as child custody, child support, protection from domestic violence, and threats to income security.

Prior to joining NLSP, Jason practiced with a full-service family law firm in Raleigh, NC, and served as an Osborn Fellowship Attorney with the Fair Trial Initiative in Durham, NC. While in law school, Jason worked with the ACLU of North Carolina, Wake County Public Defender’s Office, Disability Rights North Carolina, and Center for Death Penalty Litigation. Jason has also worked with Human Rights Watch on issues of inequality in the United States, and studied international and comparative human rights law in Delhi, India.

Jason received his JD from the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University. He also holds an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a BA in Religion from Campbell University.

Jason is currently serving a two-year term as an appointed member of the D.C. Bar’s Lawyers Assistance Committee. He is also a member of the Washington Council of Lawyers and the National Lawyers Guild.
