Mark Spira

Mark Spira joined NLSP in May 2018. Mr. Spira has been a fundraiser for over 20 years and brings over two decades of experience in non-profits management to NLSP. He has worked in arts, community services and education non-profits as well as leading a Development team responsible for raising over $3 million annually at a DC Community Center for over a decade. 

Mr. Spira has worked in the DC nonprofit community for the last 15 years.  In his work, he has led individual campaigns that have raised over $1 million annually. He has successful written grants for local, regional and national foundations as well as federal, state and local governments.  He has been responsible for myriad events over the past two decades including: galas that have raised over $400,000, opening and anniversary events including a week’s worth of opening events and programs for the City Museum in Washington DC, and major concerts and arts events including Judy Collins, Mary Wilson, Tony Kushner, Dr. Ruth, Roz Chast, Keb Mo, Eric Idle and more. He also has experience with capital and endowment campaigns, including the successful campaign to build and open Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier in 1999.  

At NLSP he is also in charge of social media and communications, in addition to his leadership role in development that focuses on grants, corporate giving and individual fundraising.

He is a native Washingtonian having lived in DC except for a 10 year period in the midwest for college and post college.  He lives in NW DC with his wife and two young children.
