Shaina HagenStaff Attorney
Shaina Lamchick Hagen joined NLSP in 2015. She is a Staff Attorney at NLSP’s Ward 7 Polk Street Office. Her work focuses on protecting affordable housing options for low-income individuals and families, particularly through tenant representation in landlord-tenant proceedings and housing conditions cases.
Shaina has been committed to advocating for Washington D.C.’s most vulnerable residents throughout her career. Before joining NLSP, Shaina was a post-graduate housing fellow at the Legal Aid Society of DC. During her time in law school, she interned with Neighborhood Legal Services Program working on housing and consumer issues, the Legal Aid Society of DC, Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. She was also a student attorney in her law school’s Domestic Violence Clinic. Prior to law school, Shaina worked at District Alliance for Safe Housing, where she gained experience in both direct client services and development.
Shaina received her J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law, where she had a full-tuition scholarship as a Public Interest/Public Service Scholar. She graduated magna cum laude, Order of the Coif and served as an Articles Editor of the American University Law Review. She received her B.A. from George Washington University, where she graduated summa cum laude as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
