Elizabeth Denise Curtis

Elizabeth Denise Curtis is presently a Managing Attorney at Neighborhood Legal Services Program (NLSP) in Washington, DC. Her specialty is Elder Law. Prior to working for NLSP, Elizabeth Denise was the Coordinator of the Jacob Burns Community Legal Clinics Health Insurance Counseling Project at the George Washington University Law School of DC which provides Medicare counseling and outreach.

She is also currently a Mediator for the DC Superior Court, a certified Veterans Appeals Attorney and an Arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). She is a trainer on the topics of Medicare and Long term Care for the AARP/National Legal Training Project which trains lawyers and other advocates throughout the country in substantive law and advocacy skills and conducts “Training of Trainers” programs to produce elder law trainers who in turn expand the reach of the program.

She is also a University of Maryland/University College Adjunct Professor of a web-based course on Long-term care. She has taught as an Adjunct Professor at Marymount University of Arlington, VA.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Elizabeth Denise worked as a law clerk for a legal clinic for the elderly, a pension rights program and as a volunteer for a legal aid program with a focus in elder law.

Additionally, she has experience as a NASD licensed retirement investment advisor, a counselor for the Consumer Credit Counseling Service network, and Director of a "Daily Money Management" program. Elizabeth Denise has also been a Benefit Claims Adjudicator for the Social Security Administration.

Elizabeth Denise received her Bachelor of Science degree from Hampton Institute, her Master of Science degree from University of North Carolina-Greensboro and her Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University.
