Valerie M. Scott

Valerie Michele Scott is the Director of Administration and Compliance for the Neighborhood Legal Services Program. She joined Neighborhood Legal Services Program (“NLSP”) in July 2006, upon receiving her J.D. from the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law. Ms. Scott received her B.A. (cum laude) from Central State University (Wilberforce, Ohio), graduating with a dual major in Political Science and Public Administration, as well as a minor in History. While in law school, Ms. Scott participated in both the HIV/AIDS and Community Development Legal Clinics. Upon the recommendation of Professor Edgar Cahn, Ms. Scott served as an Advocate Judge through the Youth Court Program during her first semester in law school, as well as extended service during the following summer. Until January 2009, Ms. Scott worked as a Law Clerk in NLSP’s Southeast (Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE) office. Primarily, she handled medical disability claims through the Social Security Administration, specifically assisting clients with their appeals involving denial of disability benefits and alleged overpayments. Since that time, she has re-located to the Rhode Island Avenue (Headquarters) office, where she now serves as the Director of Administration and Compliance.
