Valerie Scott joined Neighborhood Legal Services Program in July 2006, upon graduation from the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law. While in law school, Ms. Scott participated in both the HIV/AIDS and Community Development Legal Clinics. In addition, Ms. Scott served as an Advocate Judge through the Youth Court Program during her first year in law school, as well as the following summer.
Ms. Scott began her career at NLSP as a Law Clerk in the Southeast office, handling public benefit appeals. In 2009, she was promoted to her current position as Director of Administration and Compliance. She graduated, with honors, from Central State University, with a dual major in Political Science and Public Administration.
Ms. Scott joined NLSP staff to take part in the organization’s ongoing effort to ameliorate the pervasive cycle of poverty in the nation’s Capitol.
