Services: NLSP may provide assistance in the following practice areas, as resources permit:

Family Law: Cases involving custody/visitation, child support, domestic violence (for both victims and people wrongly accused), as well as some divorce and paternity matters. We work with both custodial and noncustodial parents. We can represent undocumented persons who are victims of domestic violence or trafficking.

Housing Law: Cases involving unlawful evictions, termination of housing subsidies, illegal rent increases and substantial housing code violations. We represent homeowners in cases involving improper mortgage foreclosures.

Consumer Law: Cases involving illegal collections, predatory lending, improper repossessions and consumer rights violations.

Public Benefits/Income Maintenance/Health Law: Cases involving the denial of claims, including TANF, food stamps, unemployment benefits, veteran’s benefits, SSI and SSDI, Medicare, Medicaid.

Employment: Cases involving unpaid wages or barriers that prevent people from securing or keeping jobs, including driver’s license suspensions due to child support arrearages.

Wills: We connect clients with volunteer attorneys for assistance drafting wills and advance directives.

Community Engagement: We regularly hold “know your rights” and other educational forums in the community and encourage community organizations to contact us about such opportunities.
