East of the River Casehandlers Meeting

Friday May 13, 2016 - 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Anacostia Neighborhood Library| 1800 Good Hope Road SE

At this meeting we will be discussing the following issues:

  • What your clients that live in Ward 7 and 8 are reporting about barriers to employment/returning to work and the extent to which we all offer legal services that might remove some of those barriers. We also welcome the participation of organizations that are working on these issues legislatively, systemically, and/or nationally, so that we can identify opportunities for joint advocacy that could benefit the residents of Wards 7 and 8.
  • A report on the work of the Ward 7 Family Services, Legal Services Providers and Policymakers initial meeting and the plan for the June 24 meeting.
  • Information share on community-based, legal information programs and clinics planned by member organizations for summer 2016 in Wards 7 & 8.
  • An update on the EOTR senior resource list.

If you have new programs, reports or policy initiatives that you would like to share, please tell Heather Hodges hhodges@nlsp.org.

We also encourage legal services providers to invite new any new staff members and interns to the meeting.

ABOUT US
The East of the River Casehandlers is a group of legal services providers that meets every three months at the Anacostia Library to share program information and discuss strategies for dealing with issues of common concern to our low-income clients in Wards 7 and 8. We also conduct legal information programs for community members and legal services attorneys.
