ABOUT NLSP
Neighborhood Legal Services Program provides high quality legal services to overcome clients’ serious legal problems and help them achieve stability and opportunity. Families avoid homelessness and address sub-standard living conditions; parents retain connections to their children; victims secure protection from domestic violence; persons with disabilities obtain critical income supports and entrants to the workforce are able to get and keep jobs. Through direct services, community education and clinics, we serve approximately 2,000 low income DC residents annually. NLSP is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. ABOUT Deaf Dog and the Indictments
Since 2005, Deaf Dog and the Indictments have been bringing their unique mix of Motown, blues, and good old rock ’n’ roll to audiences in New York and D.C. The band was named after guitarist Russell “Top Dog” Canan’s German shepherd Chapin, who was never scared off by the band’s jams. Among its members, Deaf Dog and the Indictments counts six D.C. Superior Court associate judges, three magistrate judges, and, on the drums, one psychologist. The judges see the band as a way to reach out to the community in a way that differs from their professional roles hearing criminal, family, and probate cases. Deaf Dog and the Indictments have played at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, Georgetown’s Grog & Tankard, and innumerable conferences. They have been featured in Washingtonian magazine.
