NLSP offices to close on Friday June 18 for Juneteenth

NLSP offices are will be clsoing on Friday, June 18th to celebrate and commemorate Juneteenth (Juneteenth is June 19, 2021).

 
Texas was the last state to free slaves. Two and one-half years after the effective date of the Emancipation Proclamation, the slaves were freed in Texas on June 19, 1865, marking the end of legal slavery in the United States. Since that time, Juneteenth (June plus nineteenth) has been celebrated not only in the state of Texas, but in many communities across the country.  
 
Earlier this month, Congress passed legislation to make Juneteenth a new federal holiday and on Thursday, June 17 the President signed the legislation to make it a national holiday.
