NLSP provides free civil legal assistance to low-income DC residents and does not ever charge clients for legal services.

Intake and NLSP will be closed on January 19, 2026.

Neighborhood Legal Services Program (NLSP) is a nonprofit legal services organization that provides free legal information, advice and representation to low-income District of Columbia residents on civil legal matters. We are committed to equal access to justice for all members of our community.  NLSP is committed to working towards a more just and equitable Washington D.C. for all residents.

PLEASE NOTE
Online intake and telephone intake will be closed every second Thursday and every last Wednesday of the month.

• Telephone intake is available Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.   

Walk-in 

• Come to our offices at 64 New York Ave. NE, Suite 180, Washington DC 20002, or 4609 Polk Street NE, Washington, DC 20019 Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm to complete an in-person intake
