Sheryl KayStaff Attorney, Family Law Practice

Sheryl Kay

Sheryl L. Kay is a Staff Attorney with the Family Law Practice at the NLSP. She has always been passionate about lifting up those in need. Ms. Kay’s past work experience includes litigation as an Assistant Public Defender in Miami, Florida, and advocating through due process hearings for DC families with disabled children.

As a teenaged mother, she brought her daughter with her to college and graduated in the top 5% of her class from Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. Ms. Kay also excelled academically in law school at the American University’s Washington College of Law in Washington, DC, where she was the President of the Women’s Law Association and practiced in the International Human Right Law Clinic. She graduated with honors from both college and law school.

As the mother of two daughters and grandmother to one little girl, Ms. Kay knows that family preservation and unity is of paramount importance. Accordingly, she fights for DC families as if they were her own family. When she is not working, Ms. Kay enjoys spending time with her family and two cats, reading books with her hometown book club, and listening to music, especially when it’s live.

She can be reached via email at SKay@nlsp.org.
