Christine Thomas

Christine joined Neighborhood Legal Services Program in September 2017 as a Howard C. Westwood Fellow. Her case load focuses on providing legal advice and representation in family law matters. She is based in NLSP's headquarters office at 64 New York Ave. NE, Suite 180.

Christine demonstrates a commitment for the advocacy of issues impacting indigent citizens and family law matters. During her law school career, she focused her efforts on public interest law. As a  third-year law student, Christine was the Auction Coordinator for the Howard Public Interest Law Society in which she raised over $45,000 for students seeking funding for summer public interest work. Christine also worked as a Student Attorney in Howard University School of Law’s Child Welfare Clinic. As a student attorney, she represented birth parents involved in civil, abuse and neglect matters in the Family Courts of the D.C. Superior Court. While at Howard Law, she also served as President of Howard Law Family Law Society; as President, she focused the society’s efforts by partnering with one of D.C.’s domestic violence abuse shelters to fundraise for the shelter, and to provide the law school community with domestic violence prevention awareness. Christine has also served as a legal intern at The Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia, and as a judicial intern for the Honorable Crystal D. Mittelstaedt.

Christine received her J.D. from Howard University School of Law, where she was awarded the Family Law Certificate for demonstrating commitment to family law matters, in academia and in practice, and for community service. Christine received her B.A. from Howard University, where she graduated magna cum laude.
