June Update on NLSP Eviction Prevention Program

More than 33,000 eviction cases are filed in the District of Columbia per year. Almost 90% of the tenants are unrepresented, while approximately 90% of the landlords are represented by counsel.

To reduce the number of unrepresented low-income residents of the District of Columbia subject to eviction, NLSP, thanks to funding from the DC Bar Foundation, created a program within our Housing practice to bring together a dedicated team of attorneys and legal professionals to assist residents facing eviction. The project was initiated in 2018 and the Creating Partnerships and Leveraging Resources to Prevent Eviction program at NLSP was formed.
