Ms. Turner Roberts has practiced law since 2006.  She was appointed to the position of Managing Attorney in 2012, after serving as a staff attorney at NLSP for three years and currently supervises NLSP’s Family Law and Public Benefits practices.  She is a senior attorney in our Ward 7 (“Polk Street”) office, a community hub which brings together local stakeholders to address problems affecting the neighborhood and provides a readily accessible source of assistance for residents East of the River.


Ms. Turner Roberts handles complex and often highly charged family law cases, including third-party custody in which family members, often grandparents, seeking custody of children in unstable environments.  She has significant experience obtaining civil protective orders for victims of domestic violence and representing respondents wrongly accused of domestic violence.  She regularly handles and supervises cases involving child support, including those where the obligor may be facing loss of a driver’s license, incarceration or wage garnishments because of an inability to satisfy an unrealistically high child support order.   Her practice also includes a variety of public benefits matters, including Social Security (Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability cases), TANF, SNAP, and Medicaid denials.  Ms. Turner Roberts is a frequent presenter at community-based clinics as well as serve as a guest lecturer at several local law schools.


Ms. Turner Roberts received her Juris Doctor and Certificate in Law and Public Policy from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Hollins University (formerly Hollins College).
