Elizabeth Floyd

Elizabeth joined Neighborhood Legal Services Program in February 2018. She manages the Housing Cooperative Preservation Initiative, which—in collaboration with University Legal Services—provides legal, financial and asset management services to limited-equity housing cooperatives. She is based in the Polk Street office.

Prior to joining NLSP, Elizabeth worked as a Staff Attorney at Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia. There she represented low-income tenants in eviction and housing conditions cases before the D.C. Superior Court. Elizabeth was a postgraduate fellow at CASA de Maryland, where she handled a variety of housing and consumer matters affecting recent immigrant communities in Maryland. Elizabeth also served as an intern for Make the Road New York, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area and the Environmental Defense Fund.

Elizabeth obtained her J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she was a student attorney in the Post-Foreclosure Evictions Defense, Family Law and Education Law Clinics. Prior to law school, she received her B.A. from Duke University, spent a year in Russia on a Fulbright grant and worked several years in Durham, North Carolina at a community-based organization providing service and advocacy to the local Latino community and as a legal assistant in the Farmworker Unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina.
